Not Bad But You Should Check Out Miles First - I like a few of the songs on this album (especially Some Cow Fonque) but if you like this then you should check out the real deal. Mile Davis was years ahead with his album Doo-Bop. In his wildest dreams Marsalis wouldn t have ever thought of doing an album like this if Miles hadn t already done it. Miles was way ahead of his time creating new musical genres before anyone could even imagine what he was thinking about.

Buckshot and killed - This was a pathetic attempt by Branford to try to tie funk, rap, and jazz into one genre. He failed miserably. And when i say failed i mean that this is not good music. Brandford is a great musician, but he was trying to put his stamp on music history and the only footnote he created here was worst attempt at perpetual fame. There are some saving graces on the CD musically but not enough to overcome the attrocities. This CD should be categorized as new age or avante guarde at best. Jazz should never be associated with this CD whatsoever. Some may find this CD refreshing and inovative but I am not one of them. PLEASE listen to the sample tracks before buying this drink coaster of a CD.

Thoroughly Tasty - Branford and the cast play deep on every track. From the most soulful of ballads to the funkiest rendition of Mona Lisas..., to the straight-ahead blowing from the horn section, to the way the rythmn section wraps around Maya Angelou s poetic verse on Caged Bird, you ll have plenty to feast your ears on in each track. The musicianship is top-notch. And we out.

Jazz, Acid, Funk and House, but better - I can t say enough of how much I love this CD. It s such a great mix of jazz, funk, scratchin , beautiful vocals, and spoken word. Save one or two song oddities that I skip by on my CD, I can play this from start to finish because it s consistent enough to enjoy the theme of the band all the way through.

No Pain, No Gain - I saw buckshot lefonque at EMU a few years ago and they were great. Lots of energy and excellent music. The day after the concert I went and bought this CD. My favorite track is No Pain, No Gain. This upbeat stuff may not cut it for the jazz traditionalist, but for those times that you want to hear jazz but need an adrenaline rush, this CD just might do it!
